Guide to Club Insurance
Recommendations for Clubs
There are 3 main categories of insurance that all Clubs should consider:
-
Liabilities
-
Asset Protection
-
Buildings & Contents
The following provides an indication of the cover available: full policy wordings, including any exclusions and limitations that apply, are available upon request.
Liabilities
To help protect the Club and its Committee against the cost of a claim made against you following injury to someone else or damage to their property.
British Rowing requires its affiliated Clubs to protect themselves and their Committee in respect of their liability to others.
To help, British Rowing has allied itself with specialist providers of bespoke schemes, which provide coordinated cover to meet these requirements, including Member to Member liability.
Towergate Insurance which runs Elite Rowing insurance, have partnered with Perkins Slade (provider of the British Rowing liability scheme) to provide a combination for BR registered Clubs.
Depending on your liability requirements these can be included within the boats & equipment and premises policies.
Asset Protection
Elite Rowing insurance for Club Boats & Equipment
The Elite policy has been designed to reflect the specific needs of individual rowing boat users and rowing clubs.
- Loss or Damage to Your Boats & Equipment Specified on the Policy Schedule

Please note that the Sums Insured provided by this policy in respect of the boats and equipment are on an “Agreed Value” basis and not “Market Value” at time of loss i.e. we do not make a deduction for wear, tear or depreciation. - Your Legal Liabilities to Third Party Property Damage and Bodily Injury
